There is no hard or fast rules as to how many cheeses to put or whether the meats & cheeses can be put together . That is the first law of creative imagination – not to be bogged down by anyone’s vision . The only reason I would have separate platters/ boards is if the gathering had veg & non veg people or to create variety by using different platters. Else this type is a great indicator of how to do up an exquisite platter.

Hello! Thanks for sharing your feedback. I’m of the camp of “to each his own” when it comes to a cheese board or mezze platter. I don’t believe in very strict rules as to what should and should not be included either case…. just some general guidelines which I share here.

A good cheese board should consist of 6 cheeses. Ranging from soft to hard .
A blue, a goats, maybe a creamy Kaltenberg or a mimosa. I have NEVER had Parmigiano on a cheese board, ever.. the mistakes are too many to mention.
